1. Preventive maintenance core measures

Line nodes: Check whether the sensor plug and fan motor interface are loose or corroded, especially after rainy season or water immersion, clean the pins and apply dielectric grease to prevent oxidation.

Cleaning and maintenance of cooling system

Condenser/water tank: Use a low-pressure water gun to backwash the radiator fins every quarter to remove blockages such as willow catkins and insect corpses (to avoid high-pressure damage to the fins). Maintaining heat dissipation efficiency can reduce the high load operation time of electronic fans.

Fan blades: Check the integrity of the blades for cracks or deformations every six months. Slight dust accumulation can be cleaned with a soft bristled brush to avoid resonance caused by dynamic balance imbalance.

Dynamic working condition monitoring

Observation of water temperature gauge: If the water temperature in congested roads continues to approach the red line (103 ℃) and the electronic fan does not start at high speed, it is necessary to immediately turn off the engine for inspection.

Abnormal noise diagnosis: If there is a "buzzing" resonance sound accompanied by idling, it may indicate that the motor bearings are lacking oil or the capacitors are aging, and it needs to be repaired in a timely manner.

 

2. Emergency solution for faults

Scenario 1: The electronic fan does not rotate at all (due to high water temperature)

Step 1: Open the engine hood and short-circuit the power supply line (usually red/yellow) of the electronic fan plug to the positive terminal of the battery. If the fan rotates, it indicates that the motor is normal and the fault is at the control end.

Step 2: Check the fuse box under the steering wheel (refer to the manual for locating the electronic fan fuse) and replace it with a spare part of the same specification. Do not use copper wire jumper to avoid burning the control module.

Step 3: Turn on the A/C switch of the air conditioner. If the electronic fan still does not turn, check the temperature control switch: unplug the water temperature sensor plug and short-circuit the pins at both ends with a wire. If the fan starts, it confirms that the temperature control switch is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced.

Scenario 2: The electronic fan keeps running continuously (after ignition)

Key investigation of oil temperature sensor: Abnormal signal can mislead the control module to continue power supply. If the fan stops running after disconnecting the sensor plug, the fault can be confirmed.

Relay adhesion test: Pull out the electronic fan relay and shake it. If there is any abnormal noise, it indicates that the internal armature is stuck. Replace it to solve the problem.

Scenario 3: Insufficient speed or intermittent stoppage

Motor carbon brush wear: Remove the motor back cover and check the remaining length of the carbon brush (if it is less than 5mm, it needs to be replaced).

Capacitor capacity decay: Use a multimeter to measure the starting capacitor in the capacitance range. If the capacity is below 70% of the nominal value, it needs to be replaced (common specification: ± 10 μ F).
