The HONDA ACCORD 2013-2020 model adopts a dual fan design, with the main fan responsible for engine cooling and the auxiliary fan mainly used for air conditioning system cooling. The system consists of the following core components:
Fan motor: adopting a three wire control design (high-speed wire, low-speed wire, and negative wire), achieving stepless speed regulation through PWM signals
Control module: integrated into the engine ECU, receiving water temperature sensor and air conditioning pressure signals
Relay group: includes two relays, low-speed and high-speed, located in the engine compartment fuse box
Temperature sensor: provides engine coolant temperature data, which is the main basis for ECU to control the fan
Work logic
Low speed mode: Start when the water temperature reaches 92-95 ℃, with a speed of approximately 1500rpm
High speed mode: Start when the water temperature rises to 98-101 ℃ or the pressure on the high-pressure side of the air conditioner exceeds 1.5MPa
Stop condition: Stop when the water temperature drops below 88 ℃ and the air conditioning is turned off
Systematic diagnostic process
Basic inspection
1. Visual inspection:
Confirm that the fan blades are not deformed or stuck with foreign objects
Check if the wiring harness connectors (especially waterproof plugs) are corroded or loose
Verify coolant level and radiator surface cleanliness
2. Electrical testing:
Measure motor winding resistance: 2-4 Ω for low-speed winding, 1-2 Ω for high-speed winding
Check the power supply voltage: 7-9V for low speed and 12-14V for high speed
The resistance of the test grounding circuit should be less than 0.5 Ω
